Locals lock health center in Kalikot over staff absence and poor service

KALIKOT: Residents of Tadi Basic Health Center in Khadachakra Municipality-3, the headquarters of Kalikot district, have locked the facility, which has been without staff for nearly two weeks.

On Monday, patients suffering from cough and headaches went to collect medicine but were instead given an iron grinder by the office assistant, prompting locals to lock the center in protest. They complain that their lives are being treated carelessly.

Locals say the health center staff often fail to come on time and do not provide the free medicines supplied by the government, leading to the lockdown.

There are also accusations from residents that some employees repeatedly intimidate and threaten patients who do not have political or local influence.

Local resident Khagendra Prasad Pandey said, “We have not even received the medicines the government promised to provide for free; instead, we have faced threats.”
