KATHMANDU: Dalit rights activist Pradip Pariyar has been appointed as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Leadership for the 2025-2026 term.
Pariyar, the founder and chair of the Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance, will contribute to global discussions on caste-based discrimination, exclusion, and social justice.
The Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance has welcomed his appointment, stating that it will strengthen the movement for a more equitable society.
With over two decades of experience in youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and social justice policymaking, Pariyar has long been a leading advocate for marginalized communities.
In 2020, he was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.
The Global Future Councils (GFCs) are the World Economic Forum’s primary interdisciplinary think tanks, bringing together about 700 experts across 36 thematic councils.
These councils generate insights on emerging issues, innovative solutions, and policy recommendations to address global challenges.
The Network of Global Future Councils operates on principles of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
Dalit Lives Matter, a global movement advocating for social justice and an end to caste-based discrimination, views Pariyar’s inclusion in the Global Future Council as a significant milestone in its efforts to promote justice, equity, and inclusion on the international stage.
