National Assembly: Lawmakers draw govt’s attention to contemporary issues



KATHMANDU: Lawmakers in the National Assembly have drawn the government’s attention to contemporary issues in today’s meeting.

They urged the government to investigate the recent incident where two girls were found dead in Dhakari Rural Municipality, Achham.

Ganga Kumari Belbase urged the government to take stern legal action against those involved in the murders of Saraswati Khadka and Ishwari Khadka in Dhakari Rural Municipality, Achham.

Sharada Devi Bhatt also called the government’s attention to ensure the harshest possible punishment for those involved in the murder of the young girls.

She remarked on the tragedy that incidents of violence against women are not decreasing.

Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami demanded an investigation and action against those responsible for the incident where a 22-year-old Dinesh BK was beaten to death by locals when he went to visit his love in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok.

Jag Prasad Sharma, urged the government to focus on waiving electricity tariff for the power used in the process of distributing drinking water to implement the people’s fundamental right to clean drinking water.

Taraman Swar, Maya Prasad Sharma, and Tulsa Kumari Dahal emphasized that the federal government should focus on developing the capital of the Sudurpaschim Province, there should not be delays in the reconstruction of houses for those affected by the Jajarkot earthquake, and the ongoing session of the federal parliament should concentrate on lawmaking in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.
