Rabi Lamichhane holds talks with Madhesh leaders on social harmony

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane held discussions with leaders from the Madhes region on Thursday to promote social harmony in the Tarai-Madhesh.

According to Lamichhane’s secretariat member Avinash Acharya, the meeting focused on maintaining communal harmony following tensions that have spread to several districts after the recent clashes in Sunsari.

Among those attending the meeting were leader Manish Jha, former minister Bablu Gupta, Gen-Z leader Purushottam Yadav and former minister Deepak Shah, among others.

The discussions come after clashes between two groups in Sunsari triggered unrest in various parts of the region.

On Wednesday, Lamichhane also convened an all-party meeting involving political leaders and security officials to discuss measures to ease tensions. He later briefed President Ramchandra Paudel on the outcome of the discussions.
