Protest against Pathibhara cable car turns violent in Jhapa; police fire tear gas, three arrested

A bandh called by the Inter-Party Struggle Committee for the MukKumlung Protection and Cable Car Cancellation had a partial impact in eastern Nepal, leading to clashes in Jhapa.

On Sunday, tension escalated in Damak-6’s Ganatantra Chowk when police clashed with a group led by Federal Democratic National Front Chair Kumar Lingden.

Protesters, numbering around a hundred, attempted to block the road by burning tires. When police tried to intervene, they responded by throwing stones, prompting officers to fire tear gas.

Women’s International Cricket: Nepal faces third consecutive defeat

Nepal faced the third consecutive defeat in Women’s T20 Tri-Series underway in the federal capital.

It lost today’s match to the Netherlands by 15 runs.

Maoist Center to launch 6-month nationwide campaign from Jhapa’s Kachankabal

The Maoist Center is set to begin a six-month nationwide campaign from Kachanakabal Rural Municipality in Jhapa on February 15.

The campaign, focused on the “Hulaki Highway’, will progress across the country, reaching Mahakali before shifting to the Madan Bhandari Highway.

It will conclude at the foothills of Mount Everest in Solukhumbu.

3 Nepalis killed, 1 seriously injured in Saudi Arabia road accident

Three Nepalis were killed and one seriously injured in a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the deceased have been identified as Rupak Karki from Udayapur, Krishna Khatri from Palpa, and Min Bahadur Rana from Kapilvastu.

Suk Bahadur Limbu from Ilam sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Bodies of 5 Nepalis killed in India accident to be brought to Nepal today

Preparations are underway to bring the bodies of five Nepalis from Mahottari, Dhanusha, and Siraha, who died in a road accident in Madhubani, India, yesterday afternoon, back to Nepal today.

DSP Santulal Jaiswal of the District Police Office Mahottari, who has traveled to India to collect the bodies, confirmed the information.

The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying Nepali passengers (BR 32 PA 4661) returning from the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, collided near the Madhubani temple in Madapur, Sadar Thana area of Muzaffarpur, India.
