PM Oli’s political report seeks to justify alliance with Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML’s 43rd secretariat meeting, held on Thursday, focused on preparations for the party’s central committee meeting scheduled for January 5 and 6.

The three-hour meeting at Chyasal revolved around the political report to be presented by party chair KP Sharma Oli during the central committee session.

Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali shared that the report, prepared by Oli, examines the current political scenario and the rationale behind UML’s alliance with the Nepali Congress.

Gyawali noted that this will be the first central committee meeting since the government was formed with Congress support on July 15 last year.

The political report delves into why the alliance with Congress was necessary and evaluates the outcomes of this partnership over the past six months.

It also highlights significant achievements of the government while acknowledging the need for further progress in fulfilling public expectations.

Oli’s report emphasizes efforts to strengthen the economy and spur development, citing some improvements despite challenges.

Gyawali highlighted recent achievements, such as a 17% rise in revenue over the last three months and steps to address irregularities in the cooperative sector, which have resolved issues for over 15,000 individuals.

The report also critiques what Oli describes as a looming threat of chaos in the country, with attempts being made to destabilize the political and social order.

These concerns, along with an analysis of international political developments, are integral parts of the report.

The secretariat concluded that Oli’s report will be refined based on discussions and presented to the central committee for further deliberation.
