100k jobs to be created this year, says Employment Minister

KATHMANDU: Minister of Youth, Labour and Employment, Ramji Yadav, has said that the Ministry is implementing a plan to create employment for one hundred thousand people in the country this year.

For this, the ministry has prepared 12 different action plans including the ‘Green Job Mission’ under the National Employment Program. “The ministry has been working with priority on creating employment in the country,” he said before the Industry and Commerce and Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee of the House of Representatives today.

He also said the Ministry is working to rescue 155 Nepali citizens who are stranded in various countries without official documents and on visit visas. The rescue process has been taken forward and the welfare fund will be used to carry out the rescue and repatriation.

Similarly, he said that the Foreign Employment Act has been amended to make it contemporary. A task force has been formed to stop the fraud being carried out in the name of ‘free visa’ and ‘free ticket’.

He also informed the Committee that the ministry has effectively implemented an online complaint system to hear the complaints of those who have been scammed in the pretext of foreign employment.
