Trail construction underway in Ranipauwa, Mustang

MUSTANG: The Division Road Office, Baglung, has initiated the construction of a trail in the Ranipauwa area of Muktinath, a major pilgrimage site in Mustang district. The project aims to facilitate easier movement for both pilgrims and local residents.

According to engineer Sagar Bhandari of the Division Road Office, Rs. 10 million has been allocated for the project under the fiscal year 2081/82 budget.

Construction began in August, focusing on drafting the route and laying paving stones along the path frequently used by devotees.

Bhandari noted that drainage and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks are also being built in the Ranipauwa market area to enhance walkability and accessibility. So far, about 45% of the stone paving work has been completed.

In a related effort, reinforced cement concrete (RCC) stairs are under construction from the main gate of the Muktinath temple to the hilltop.

The stairs span a 300-meter stretch, featuring a three-meter-wide structure with two-meter-wide railings.

The Division Road Office reports that approximately 80% of the physical work on the staircase and railings is complete.
