Dhruva Acharya appointed NSC Vice-Chairperson



KATHMANDU: Dhruva Acharya has been appointed as the Vice-Chairperson of the National Sports Council, according to a Cabinet decision announced on Wednesday.

Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung, during a press conference at Singha Durbar, shared several key decisions from the Cabinet meeting held on December 31.

The government also decided to observe National Anti-Money Laundering Day annually on January 30, with the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers organizing events across the country.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the first amendment to the procedures for establishing and operating the Prime Minister’s National Talent Award Fund and granted prior approval to conduct an organizational and management survey of the Office of the Attorney General and its affiliated bodies.

A significant decision was made to develop and operate the Panchkhal Special Economic Zone under a public-private partnership model, allowing private entities to build infrastructure on government-provided land.

The Cabinet also decided to prohibit strikes in essential services, with relevant notifications to be published in the Nepal Gazette.

In another decision, Additional Inspector General of Police Tek Bahadur Tamang, currently working in the Crime Investigation Department, was transferred to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari.

The meeting further endorsed the Drinking Water and Sanitation Regulations, approved an energy development roadmap, and authorized the tabling of a bill in the federal parliament to amend and integrate laws related to fertilizer imports.
