KATHMANDU: Maoist Center’s Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma has welcomed the student organization’s decision to implement an age limit for leadership.

On Saturday, elections were held in 86 districts, including 77 geographic and other non-geographic areas, to select leaders for All Nepal National Free Students Union-Revolutionary or ANNFSU-R.

The central election committee’s chief, Mukti Narayan Pradhan, announced the result in favor of imposing a 32-year age limit for leadership.

Following the election, Sharma expressed his support for the move on social media, calling it a historic and revolutionary step in the transfer of leadership to a new generation.

He emphasized that the objective was to build a capable and strong party and hand it over to the younger generation.

Sharma also noted that this decision reflects the psychology of nearly 40 million voters and argued that party building, though challenging, is achievable with honest effort, methodology, and clarity of thought.

He clarified that efforts to reform the party are not for division or power acquisition but to strengthen the organization.
