KATHMANDU: A section of the East-West Highway in West Nawalparasi has collapsed due to heavy rainfall, causing major disruptions to traffic in Daunne.

The incident occurred near the Khusarni River in Bardaghat Municipality-4, where a high-tension electricity pole also fell, further complicating the situation, according to local police.

The collapse has led to a complete blockage of the highway, stranding hundreds of passengers.

Efforts are underway to remove the debris in coordination with the Road Division Office and the Electricity Office of Nawalparasi, but the situation remains challenging due to the extent of the damage.

Authorities are working to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
