Govt forms task force to assess damage from recent rain-induced disasters

The government has formed a special task force to collect details of losses from the recent nationwide rain-induced disaster within the next 15 days.

This initiative aims to assess damages and ensure timely compensation for those affected.

The floods and landslides resulting from heavy rains on September 27-28 led to 192 fatalities, 30 missing persons, and 194 injuries, according to the latest updates from the Home Minister.

Disaster update: 192 dead, 30 still missing

A devastating series of floods and landslides triggered by relentless rains last Friday and Saturday has resulted in 192 deaths and 30 individuals reported missing.

Home Ministry spokesperson Rishi Ram Tiwari said that 194 people have sustained injuries from the disaster.

All security agencies have been mobilized for search, rescue, and relief efforts, with more than 4,500 disaster victims successfully rescued thus far.

Tiwari stated that food and other emergency relief materials have been provided to the victims, and the injured are receiving free medical treatment.

Obstructed Hetauda-Bhainse, Simbhanjyang-Palung-Naubise, Hetauda-Sindhuli-Dharan-Chatara roads resume

Among the roads obstructed following heavy rainfall and landslides, three roads connecting Hetauda-Kathmandu of Makawanpur and Hetauda-Dharan-Chatara have come into operation.

According to the District Police Office, traffic operation has resumed on Hetauda-Bhaise, Simbhanjyang-Palung-Naubise and Hetauda-Sindhuli-Dharan Chatra roads along the Madan Bhandari Highway since this morning.

Similarly, the Hetauda-Bhaise-Chitlang-Chandragiri-Kathmandu road along the Tribhuvan Highway came into operation unilaterally since Sunday evening.

NRNA announces assistance of Rs 10 million for disaster-hit people

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has decided to provide Rs 10 million to the Nepalis affected by floods, landslides and inundation in different parts of the country due to incessant rains.

In a virtual meeting held on Sunday, the NRNA office-bearers decided to provide Rs 10 million for the flood victims in the first phase, NRNA President Dr Badri KC

Dashain tika timing announced for 32 countries

The International Calendar Determination Committee has announced the timing of Badadashain Tika for 32 countries, including Nepal.

Laxman Panthi, Member Secretary of the Committee, stated that the auspicious day of Bijaya Dashami 2024 has been announced in response to inquiries from Sanatan Dharma followers around the world.

According to the Committee’s announcement, the auspicious time for Kathmandu, Nepal, is 11:36 AM on October 12.

In India, the auspicious time in Delhi is 11:42 AM on October 12. In the United States, the timings are as follows: New York at 10:01 AM on October 12, Frankfort, Kentucky at 10:39 AM, Owensboro, Kentucky at 09:45 AM, Texas at 10:05 AM, Washington DC at 09:55 AM, and California at 09:39 AM.

Madhes province government allocates emergency funds

The Madhes Province Government has decided to allocate Rs 10 million each to the eight districts in the province for the emergency relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the loss and damage caused by the relentless rain.

The provincial government has also decided to immediately allot Rs 50 million to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development for the reconstruction of roadways damaged due to the flooding in the Madhes.
