KATHMANDU: Kusum Devi Thapa, a Member of Parliament representing the Nepali Congress, has been elected as the chairperson of the House of Representatives Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee.

Thapa was elected unopposed following a proposal by NC MP Bir Bahadur Balayar and seconded by CPN (UML) MP Surya Prasad Dhakal.

The position became vacant after the previous chair, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, was appointed as the Foreign Minister.

Thapa was the sole candidate for the committee chairperson position.
