CM Lama of Bagmati Province to seek confidence vote tomorrow

HETAUDA: Newly appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama, is scheduled to take a vote of confidence tomorrow (Tuesday).

The provincial assembly meeting is scheduled for 3 PM.

Lama, the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress, was appointed to the position on July 23 with the support of the CPN-UML.

He received backing from 37 Nepali Congress lawmakers and 27 UML lawmakers.

Out of the 110 members in the provincial assembly, Lama needs the support of at least 56 members to secure his position.

With the support of Nepali Congress and UML, CM Lama is expected to win the confidence vote.

The assembly also includes 21 lawmakers from CPN (Maoist Center), 13 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (including the Speaker), seven from CPN (Unified Socialist), three from Nepal Workers Peasants Party, and two from Hamro Nepali Party.
