Dry landslides block Mahakali Highway

MAHAKALI: A dry landslide has obstructed the Gokuleshwar-Khalanga road in Malikarjun Rural Municipality-8, Melkhet Dhamigada, part of the Mahakali Highway.

Transport services have been halted due to landslides piling up at multiple locations along the highway.

As a result, transportation into and out of the district has been suspended.

Night and long-distance buses traveling from Darchula to Mahendranagar and Kathmandu have been stopped, leaving travelers stranded.

Even short-distance vehicles are unable to operate on the blocked roads, causing significant inconvenience for those needing to travel.

Supervisor Ganesh Bohra reported that excavators from the Division Road Office Baitadi Patan have been working since morning to clear the landslide.

However, the road will only be fully accessible once the excavators manage to remove the large stones blocking the way.
