KATHMANDU: Domestic flights from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been suspended due to ongoing heavy rain.

Since early morning, poor weather conditions have disrupted air travel to various destinations.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, a few flights to Dhangadi, Bhairahawa, and Janakpur are still operating today, but most flights have been canceled.

Sherpa noted that flight cancellations began Thursday and are expected to continue until weather conditions improve.

No mountain flights are available today due to the adverse weather, according to TIA.

International flights at the airport are operating normally.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that much of the country is experiencing generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The weather is expected to remain overcast throughout the afternoon, particularly in the Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
