KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has imposed a ban on night bus operations in 56 districts for tonight and tomorrow night.

The central command post for monsoon preparedness and response has decided not to allow night buses to ply on September 27 and 28 due to the heightened risk of disaster incidents.

Heavy to very heavy monsoon rainfall is expected from Thursday to Sunday, prompting the authority to issue several precautions.

They have advised against harvesting rice during this period, and if harvesting has already occurred, the grain should be stored immediately.

The Authority also cautioned against storing grains in-ground ponds in the Terai and Madhesh regions and urged heightened vigilance in landslide-prone areas and riverside settlements.

Additionally, they advised against visiting riversides to collect firewood or fishing during this time.
