Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister calls on Prime Minister Dahal



KATHMANDU: Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is on an official visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Monday.

During the meeting at Singha Durbar, they discussed bilateral interests, mutual concerns, and areas of cooperation.

Prime Minister Dahal expressed his appreciation for China’s ongoing support of Nepal’s economic and social development.

He highlighted Nepal’s goal to graduate from the status of a least developed country by 2026 and emphasized the need for continued Chinese support to achieve this milestone.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sun informed that China has decided to celebrate “Visit Nepal 2025” to promote Nepalese tourism and encourage Chinese tourists to visit Nepal, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations in 2025.

He reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s economic and social development.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sun arrived in Nepal on Monday to participate in the 16th meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr. Rupa Sapkota, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, and senior Chinese officials, including the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song.
