Key leaders meet at Baluwatar to resolve parliamentary deadlock

KATHMANDU: Key leaders of the political parties are meeting at Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s official residence in Baluwatar in an effort to end the ongoing parliamentary impasse.

PM Dahal summoned the leaders for this meeting following an earlier discussion with President Ram Chandra Poudel on Friday morning.

The current meeting at Baluwatar includes PM Dahal, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, and UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaual.

Representing the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, are leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak.

A task force meeting held to prepare the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the proposed parliamentary committee failed to reach an agreement on Friday, leading to the Nepali Congress obstructing the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting.

The leaders hope to find a resolution to lift the parliamentary deadlock through their discussions at Baluwatar.
