U19 World Cup: Pakistan secures victory over Nepal with a 5-wicket win

KATHMANDU: In a match played at the ICC U19 World Cup tournament in East London, South Africa, Nepal faced a setback as they succumbed to a 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan.

The Pakistani team chased down Nepal’s target of 198 runs, reaching the milestone in 47 overs and 4 balls.

Azan Awais emerged as the top scorer for Pakistan, contributing 63 runs in 82 balls, featuring 6 fours.

Opening batsmen Shyamal Hussain and Shahjib Khan also played crucial roles, scoring 37 runs each.

Nepal’s Aakash Chand managed to take three wickets during the match.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Nepal posted a total of 197 runs, losing all wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Bipin Rawal led the scoring for Nepal with 39 runs off 68 balls, supported by Deepak Dumre with 26 runs off 58 balls.

Captain Dev Khanal and Subas Bhandari contributed 23 runs (37 balls) and 20 runs (24 balls) respectively.

Arafat Minhas spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling attack, claiming three wickets, while Ubaid Shah and Ahmed Hussain secured two wickets each.

Nepal, having suffered a defeat in their opening match against New Zealand by 64 runs, is set to face Afghanistan in their next fixture on Friday.
