Climbing Dharahara now requires a fee starting Nov 24

KATHMANDU: Effective November 24, a fee of Rs 200 per person will be charged to climb the Dharahara, which was previously open for free as a trial.

The Ministry of Urban Development has announced that tourists from SAARC countries will be charged Rs 500 per person, while those from non-SAARC countries will pay Rs 1,000 per person, in accordance with the Special Infrastructure Operation and Management Development Committee Order, 2081.

This fee structure was approved by the Council of Ministers during their meeting last Thursday.

For domestic citizens, students, senior citizens, children, and individuals with disabilities, a 50 percent discount on the climbing fee will be available.

Additionally, parking fees have been established at the tower: Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 per hour for two-wheelers.

The Ministry has also set advertising fees for the Dharahara pillar: Rs 5,000 per hour for advertisements of national importance (excluding commercial ads), Rs 5,000 per hour for commercial video shoots on the premises, and Rs 1,000 per hour for photography.
