Meeting with PM Modi positive: PM Oli

Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a bilateral discussion in New York, USA.

The meeting included foreign ministers and other officials from both countries.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Oli described his conversation with Prime Minister Modi as positive.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, who also participated in the meeting, noted that the discussions were cordial.

She mentioned that Indian Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit Nepal soon.

PM Oli holds meeting with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sabah

Prime Minister KP Oli, who is currently in New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), leading the Nepali delegation, held a meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

They had a meeting at the Office of the Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York

PM Oli’s program to address Nepali community in New York cancelled

Prime Minister KP Oli’s program to address the Nepali community in New York has been cancelled.

The Nepali Consulate General in New York issued a notice stating that the cancellation was due to security concerns.

“Prime Minister KP Oli and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba are occupied with the United Nations General Assembly, future summits, and other sideline meetings,” a statement issued by Nepali Consulate General said.

Prachanda’s accusation: Seven-point agreement is fake

Chair of the CPN Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has accused the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of using the issue of constitutional amendment as a tactic to change the government rather than a genuine agenda for reform.

He made these remarks during a discussion program on ‘Constitutional Implementation: Expectations and Reality,’ jointly organized by the Constitution Watch Group and the Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Science Research (ISSR) in Kathmandu on Monday.

“They had not formally discussed the need for constitutional amendment until two-four days before forming the new alliance,” said former Prime Minister Prachanda, “It is clear that the government has used this as a political tool to change the government.”

Finance Minister Paudel to visit China for Global Sustainable Transport Forum

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is set to depart for China tonight at the invitation of Chinese Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng.

Paudel’s visit will include a keynote address at the Global Sustainable Transport Forum, an event organized by the Chinese government and the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center in Beijing.

The forum aims to explore innovative solutions for global transportation challenges, with Paudel expected to highlight Nepal’s perspectives on sustainable development and regional connectivity.

Foreign Affairs Minister Rana holds bilateral meetings with counterparts at UNGA

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from various countries in New York.

Foreign Affairs Minister Rana is in New York in the Nepali delegation participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the Foreign Minister’s private secretariat, during her meeting with her Indonesian counterpart Retno L.P. Marsudi, two key agreements–the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism and the Visa Exemption Agreement for diplomatic and official/service passport holders were signed by Minister Dr Rana on behalf of Nepal, and Marsudi on behalf of Indonesia.

Cricket: Nepal faces second consecutive defeat against Canada

The Nepali national cricket team faced its second consecutive defeat in the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular one-day series, falling to Canada by 5 wickets.

This marks Nepal’s second consecutive loss against Canada, following a disappointing performance earlier in the series.

In their first match, Nepal suffered a heavy defeat, losing to Canada by 133 runs, and in the second match, they narrowly lost to Oman by just 1 wicket.

Nepal and Bhutan PMs discuss to strengthen trade and cultural ties

Prime Ministers KP Sharma Oli of Nepal and Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan discussed the expansion of people-to-people and trade relations between their countries.

Currently attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, PM Oli led a Nepali delegation during the meeting held at Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations on Sunday.

According to Bishnu Prasad Rimal, PM Oli’s chief political advisor who attended the meeting, the discussions focused on advancing collaborations in both bilateral and multilateral forums.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls on PM Oli

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Oli at the Office of the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN in New York.

PM Oli is currently in the U.S. for the 79th United Nations General Assembly, where he is leading the Nepali delegation.

During the meeting, Türk expressed his satisfaction with the endorsement of legislation related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Disappeared Persons—two crucial laws for finalizing Nepal’s peace process.

Gold prices once again set new all-time high

Gold prices have reached an all-time high once again.

Following a record-setting month in August, gold is breaking new ground in the last week of September.

Today, gold is being traded at an unprecedented price of Rs 159,200 per tola, according to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation.

This marks a significant increase from yesterday’s price of Rs 158,800, reflecting a rise of Rs 400.

Habeas corpus filed in SC against Durga Prasai’s arrest

A petition for a writ of habeas corpus has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the arrest of Durga Prasai, a medical entrepreneur with a controversial background.

On Monday, Prasai’s attorney filed the request through the appropriate channels.

Achyut Kuikel, SC Spokesperson, said that the writ has been received and is currently under review for registration.

NEPSE index falls by 59.02 points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index on Monday experienced a significant decrease of 59.02 points (2.28%), closing at 2,529.33, after a slight gain in the previous session.

Throughout the day, the index showed volatility, beginning at 2,607.86 points, reaching a peak of 2,608.43, and dropping to a low of 2,517.79 before finalizing its position.

During today’s trading, 329 securities were exchanged over 77,153 transactions, totaling 13,535,903 shares and generating a turnover of Rs. 5.66 billion.
