Cabinet reshuffle just a rumor: Home Minister Lekhak
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has dismissed rumors of a ministerial reshuffle, stating that there have been no discussions regarding this matter to date.
Speaking at a program Dhangadhi today, Lekhak explained that in a prime ministerial system, the Prime Minister has the authority to reshuffle ministers as necessary.
He noted that, as this is a two-party government, any reshuffling would require discussions between the parties; however, no such discussions have occurred thus far.
JC recommends transfer of 14 Judges
The Judicial Council (JC) has recommended the transfer of 14 judges from the High and District Courts.
In a meeting held on Thursday, the Council proposed the transfer of three High Court judges and 11 District Court judges.
High Court Janakpur Judge Kiran Kumar Pokharel has been recommended for assignment to the Ilam Bench of the High Court in Biratnagar, alongside High Court Tulsipur Judge Rekha Pandey, who is also slated for the Ilam Bench.
Earthquake strikes Annapurna region
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 struck the Annapurna region of western Nepal.
The epicenter was located on the border between Kaski and Manang, according to the National Seismology and Research Center in Lainchaur.
The quake occurred at 10:13 am this morning.
Gold prices continue to rise for fourth consecutive day
Gold prices have seen a consistent increase today, continuing a trend that began last Monday in the Nepali market.
Yesterday (Wednesday), the price of gold rose by Rs 900, reaching Rs 163,000 per tola.
Today, it has increased by an additional one thousand rupees, bringing the price to Rs 164,000 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers.
BP Highway closed for 7 hours overnight
The BP Highway, damaged by floods and landslides on September 27 and 28, will remain closed overnight for seven hours.
The Road Division Office in Bhaktapur announced that the Highway will be shut daily from 9 PM to 4 AM.
As of last night, traffic has been halted at Dhulikhel to Barkhekhola in Sindhuli.
SC ruling on leaving additional 20 meters along riverbanks not to be implemented now
The Supreme Court’s verdict requiring an additional 20 meters of land along riverbanks in Kathmandu Valley to be left as open space will not be implemented immediately.
A joint bench of Justices Prakash Man Singh Raut, Kumar Chudal, and Nityananda Pandey issued an order on Monday after reviewing a petition for reconsideration.
The petition was filed by Secretary Phanindra Gautam on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, arguing that the earlier decision was flawed and contradictory to legal precedents.
