Ministry of Health and National Innovation Centre sign agreement for medical equipment management

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has signed an agreement with the National Innovation Centre to collaborate on the repair, maintenance, and management of medical equipment at 17 hospitals under the federal government’s purview.

Dr. Madan Upadhyay, Chief of the Ministry’s Quality Measurement and Regulation Division, and Dr. Mahabir Pun, Chairperson of the National Innovation Centre, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

The signing was witnessed by Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel.

Minister Paudel emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that with limited resources, it is crucial to ensure that existing health equipment is functional and well-maintained.

“We are not in a position to immediately purchase the required medical equipment due to resource constraints. This agreement aims to maximize the use of available equipment, which is a significant initiative,” he said.

The Health Minister highlighted that repairing and maintaining idle equipment will save a considerable amount of money that would otherwise be spent on purchasing new devices.

He expressed his satisfaction with entrusting this critical task to a reputable and established organization like the National Innovation Centre.

This partnership reflects the State’s confidence in domestic organizations and workforce.

Dr. Pun noted that the National Innovation Centre has been entrusted with an important responsibility related to improving the health sector.

“This responsibility involves the repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment at government hospitals and assessing the condition of such appliances,” he explained.
