Indian team begins search for missing bus and passengers in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A team from India has started assisting in the search for two passenger buses and their passengers that were swept away by a landslide on the Narayangadh-Mugling road.

Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav informed RSS that a 12-member team from India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been conducting the search since this morning.

The incident occurred on July 12 when two passenger buses were swept from the road into the Trishuli River below at Simaltal on the Mugling-Narayangadh road.

Out of the 65 people on board the buses, three survived, while 62 went missing.

To date, the bodies of 25 people have been found in various locations along the river.

The condition of the remaining 37 passengers and the two buses is still unknown.

The Indian team was requested by the government due to the lack of sufficient modern tools required to carry out a search in the flooded river.
