e-Challan system introduced for traffic rule violations in Kathmandu valley (In pics)

KATHMANDU: A new system of issuing e-challan (digital cheat) to drivers who violate traffic rules has started in Kathmandu Valley. The new system was inaugurated in a program held at the Valley Traffic Police Office on Sunday.

With the implementation of this system, drivers who receive fines can now pay the penalty amount digitally through mobile payment wallets by the end of the day, according to the traffic police.

In the first phase, the e-challan system will be enforced in the districts of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. Traffic police officers have been provided with special devices to issue the digital tickets.

Using the ‘E-Challan Digital’ app, traffic officers will scan a QR code displayed on the driver’s mobile phone and enter the details of the violation.

The driver will then receive a digital ticket with information about the offense, fine amount, and payment method. This system allows drivers to immediately pay fines through digital wallets.
