Social Welfare Council to expand to all seven provinces

KATHMANDU: The Social Welfare Council will be expanded to all seven provinces, as decided in the board meeting held today.

The meeting, chaired by Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Bhagwati Chaudhary, resolved to establish provincial offices for the Council.

To facilitate this expansion, the Council has formed a feasibility study team.

The meeting also decided to introduce digitalization to improve the Council’s operations.

Additionally, the meeting revised the terms of reference for council officials.

The powers previously vested in the chair and member secretary will now be delegated to the vice chair, treasurer, and board members.

Minister Chaudhary, who also serves as the Council chair, has reportedly initiated the move to extend its services to the provincial level.
