KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has initiated discussions among its national general convention delegates, focusing on strategies for internal reforms and consolidation to elevate the party into a formidable national force.
During the inaugural session of the National Convention Representatives Council at Sunrise Hall in Godawari of Latilpur, Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel presented reports emphasizing the need to democratize the party’s structure and elevate it to a pivotal position in national politics.
The goal is to steer the country towards socialism while realizing the vision of a ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
The UML has outlined policy priorities aimed at ensuring the sustainability and success of the current government, boosting economic growth, delivering justice to victims of cooperatives, and fostering good governance through efficient public services.
Among the 13 policy priorities set by the UML are combating corruption, promoting industrialization in agriculture and domestic production, improving infrastructure, and enhancing electricity generation and consumption.
Additionally, the party is committed to expanding technical education, advancing gender equality, and strengthening foreign relations while upholding national sovereignty.
The UML leadership has encouraged substantive discussions and strategic suggestions from the General Convention Representative Council members on these critical issues.
In commemoration of the party’s 75th anniversary, a special program is scheduled, which will be attended by prominent figures including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and former Prime Ministers, alongside top party leaders.
