NC Mahasamiti: Vice President Khadka presents policy proposal

LALITPUR: The Nepali Congress (NC) Mahasamiti meeting, which commenced on Monday with an inauguration by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Godavari in Lalitpur, is underway.

In today’s closed session, NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka took the floor to present a comprehensive 65-page policy proposal.

In the report presented by Khadka, some political entities, including new parties and those advocating for monarchy, are accused of disseminating disillusionment among the public and promoting unrealistic visions.

The report has addressed the growing concerns of populism, authoritarianism, and revivalism, emphasizing the need for responsible discourse.

It has asserted that merely seeking popularity without a well-founded perspective is detrimental and warns that parties indulging in populism have no sustainable future.

Additionally, parties aligning with the agenda of reinstating the monarchy are labeled as authoritarian in the report.

The document has underscored the importance of focusing on economic and material development for social transformation, emphasizing the need to steer away from exploiting citizens’ dissatisfaction for political gains.

Furthermore, the proposal has suggested an immediate revision of obstacles hindering youth participation, advocating for a streamlined approach through a one-door policy for youth-targeted budgets and programs.

In the subsequent segments of the meeting, NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa will present the organizational proposal, and another General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma will outline the contemporary political proposal.

All proposals will be subjected to thorough discussion and approval during the ongoing general committee meeting, which is slated to continue until Thursday.
