PM Oli and Deuba holding talks ahead of cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba are scheduled to meet in Baluwatar on Tuesday, ahead of a Cabinet meeting slated for 6 PM at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.

During the Cabinet meeting, it is anticipated that Prime Minister Oli may address the performance of certain ministers who have been underperforming.

On Monday, the two leaders engaged in an extensive discussion covering topics such as a potential Cabinet reshuffle, the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to China, and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Sources from Baluwatar have not disclosed specific details regarding the discussions or their duration, noting, “Only the two leaders know the exact length and nature of their conversation.”

However, there are indications that a reshuffle of some ministers may be on the agenda following the China visit.

Additionally, sources suggest that both NC President Deuba and PM Oli are prepared to make changes to some ministers from the Nepali Congress and UML parties.

The two leaders are expected to meet after consulting their party leaders.

In the meantime, NC President Deuba met with party General Secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Thapa in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday morning to discuss party matters.
