One killed in Lamjung fire



LAMJUNG: A person lost their life when a house caught fire in Syage, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4, Lamjung district.

Santamaya Shrestha, 44 years old, succumbed to the fire that engulfed the house last night, as reported by the police.

The victim’s husband, 45-year-old Rajendra Shrestha, managed to escape the fire by running out, according to Police Inspector Thaneshwor Chapain from the District Police Office.

Chapain added that despite efforts from locals and the police to extinguish the fire, the house was completely consumed by the flames.

The Shrestha couple, originally from Besisahar Municipality-2, had been operating a retail shop and cloth store at the location for the past 11 years.

Goods and articles inside the house were destroyed by the fire, and the police are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

Only the wife and husband duo resided in the house, while their children live in Kathmandu.
