Coalition’s task force presents common minimum program to Prime Minister
The task force formed by the coalition government led by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML has presented its common minimum program (CMP) to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Wednesday.
Leaders said that the task force will present the common minimum program (CMP) to the Prime Minister on Wednesday after approval by the Cabinet. The task force consists of Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa and spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat, and from UML, Deputy General Secretaries Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Rimal.
Congress General Secretary Thapa informed that in the common minimum program, the issues of making the economy sustainable and advancing the program of youth partnership have been emphasized.
Newly built Dharahara opens to the public starting tomorrow
The newly constructed Dharahara in Sundhara, Kathmandu, will be open to the public starting this Thursday.
On August 23, the Cabinet approved the temporary opening of the monument in celebration of Constitution Day.
The Ministry of Urban Development directed the Central Project Implementation Unit (Building and Housing) to facilitate visitor access to the tower. Initially, around 500 visitors will be permitted to climb the tower each day.
Election Commission fixes by-elections at local levels on December 1
he Election Commission has fixed the by-elections for various vacant posts at the local level on December 1.
The commission has approved the schedule including time-bound work to be done by the commission and the offices under it to conduct the local level by-elections in an orderly manner.
According to the schedule, the notice of registration of political parties for election purposes will be published on September 25 and political parties will be registered for election purposes from September 26 to October 2.
Arrest warrant issued against Durga Prasai
An arrest warrant has been issued against Durga Prasai, the director of B&C Medical College, Jhapa.
The bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Mahendra Khanal has issued arrest warrants against three people, including Prasai on Wednesday, according to Registrar at the court Ramu Sharma.
Along with Prasain, a warrant has been issued against YouTuber Jeevan Pandey and Durga Khanal for on charges of violating the Electronic Transactions Act.
Finance Minister Paudel inquires on fluctuating capital market
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has enquired about the fluctuating share market.
The Finance Minister reached the office of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) at Bhadrakali on Wednesday and enquired why the share market was not stable.
“Sometime back, NEPSE registered over 3,000 points, ensuring transaction of Rs 30 billion on an average, while the index at present is at 2,570, limiting the transaction at Rs 5 to 6 billion. Why is it witnessing such fluctuation,” he wondered.
Doubt surrounds as Miss Nepal 2024 joins RPP
Ashma Kumari KC, who was crowned Miss Nepal World 2024 recently, has made headlines by entering the political sphere, joining the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) within a month and a half of her crowning—contrary to the rules set by the Miss Nepal organizers.
RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden announced that KC would be included in the party’s Central Working Committee as one of 20 youth members under 40.
Despite her recent political involvement, KC stated that participating in the Miss Nepal competition has helped her personal growth, though she refrained from commenting on her decision to join the RPP.
Chief Minister Karki receives vote of confidence
Chief Minister of Koshi province Hikmat Kumar Karki has secured a vote of confidence of the province assembly.
In the vote that took place in today’s meeting, 66 votes were cast in favor and 15 votes against the resolution of vote of confidence tabled by Chief Minister Karki.
Out of 93 members of the Provincial Assembly, 83 were present in the meeting.
