JHAPA: The District Police Office in Jhapa has arrested 372 drug peddlers over the past ten months.
This figure includes drug abusers arrested from various parts of the district.
Among those arrested, 22 are foreign nationals, including four women.
During this period, the police filed 240 drug-related cases in the district court, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Bahadur Chand.
In an effort to combat illegal drug activities, the police have been organizing awareness-raising programs.
However, the open border with India, specifically touching West Bengal and Bihar, poses a significant challenge for effective control.
Considering the increasing number of drug users in the district, the District Police Office in Jhapa has recently implemented the “Mothers for Control of Drug Abuse” program, said Superintendent of Police Milan KC.
This initiative is being carried out in all 15 municipalities of the district.
The program is a door-to-door campaign in collaboration with local authorities, added SP KC.
