Driver killed in road mishap



TAPLEJUNG: A person has died in a road accident that took place at Phaktanglung rural municipality-5 in Taplejung district today.

The deceased has been identified as Saroj Shrestha, 25, of Phidim municipality-3 in Panchthar district.

The accident took place when a jeep (Me 1 Cha 5193) heading towards Tapethok from Lelep fell some 300 meters off the road. Saroj was driving the jeep.

Similarly, the driver’s assistant Saujan Shrestha of Phidim municipality was injured. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rabi Rawal, said Saujan has been sent to District Hospital, Taplejung for further treatment after primary treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
