Nagarik Unmukti to maintain support for Sudurpaschim govt

KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmukti Party has announced its decision to continue supporting the Nepali Congress-led government in Sudurpaschim province.

In a meeting of the Nagarik Unmukti’s provincial parliamentary party held on Sunday, it was agreed to uphold the support for the NC-led government in the province.

Despite divisions among influential leaders, including party Chair Ranjita Shrestha and founder Resham Lal Chaudhary, regarding support for the federal government, the parliamentary meeting led by Ghanashyam Chaudhary resolved to back Kamal Bahadur Shah’s government in the province.

Of the seven province lawmakers from the party, five participated in the parliamentary meeting, while Kailash Chaudhary and Tika Thapa did not attend.

While Shrestha has been advocating for the newly formed coalition at the federal level, Chaudhary has been urging caution against supporting the government led by CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
