3 killed in Jhapa motorcycle accidents



JHAPA: Three people, including two young women, have died in separate motorcycle accidents in Jhapa last night.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, the accidents occurred at two different locations, with two additional individuals suffering injuries.

The first accident took place when a motorcycle (Province No. 1-01-015 Pa 1793) lost control and crashed near Setumari Chowk in Damak Municipality-10.

The motorcycle driver, Biraj Thapa, 27, from Ratuwamai Municipality-8, Morang, and the two passengers, Jamuna Dhimal, 32, and Om Kumari Rai, 25, both from Gauradaha Municipality-5, Jhapa, were injured in the incident.

Both women later died during treatment at Damak Hospital. Thapa, the driver, was seriously injured and has been referred to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for further treatment.

In a separate incident, a man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a parked tractor in Shivasatakshi along the East-West Highway.

The motorcycle, driven by Santosh Kumar Limbu, 42, from Mechinagar Municipality-5, Jhapa, struck the rear of the tractor (Ko 2 Ta 4145) at Kirat Chowk in Shivasatakshi Municipality-10.

Limbu died at the scene, while his passenger, Anita Rai, 35, from Damak Municipality-5, sustained injuries and is being treated at B&C Hospital in Birtamod.

The tractor driver has been arrested following the accident.
