Simaltal Landslide Update: Two more bodies identified

CHITWAN: The identities of two bodies found in Tribeni, Chitwan, have been confirmed.

According to Superintendent of Police Bhavesh Rimal of the District Police Office Chitwan, the bodies found on Sunday evening have been identified as passengers of the two buses that fell into the Trishuli River.

The identified individuals are 23-year-old Sudeep BK of Patihani in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-22 and 17-year-old Firoz Rahupat of Rautahat.

A total of seven bodies have now been identified, while the identities of four more bodies remain unknown.

Previously identified on Sunday were 40-year-old Sajad Ansari of Samparan, Bihar, India; Jayprakash Thakur of India; 22-year-old Bikash Pariyar of Madi Municipality-1; 19-year-old Ramit Kushar Majhi of Sarlahi Barhathwa Municipality-3; and 28-year-old Rishi Pal Sah of Seetamani, India.

The search for the two buses and the remaining passengers continues in and around the incident site.

Teams from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police are actively involved in the search operation.

The tragic incident occurred last Friday morning when two passenger buses, carrying around 60 passengers, were swept away from the Naraygarh-Mugling road section at Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 into the Trishuli River.
