KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been protesting the arrest and detention of its Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane.

In a show of solidarity, the RSP organized a motorcycle rally from Butwal to Bhairahawa in Rupandehi to voice opposition to Lamichhane’s arrest.

Lamichhane, who was arrested in Kathmandu in connection with alleged co-operative fraud, has been giving his statement in Bhairahawa for the past three days.

The former Home Minister, who faces charges of misappropriating funds from the Supreme Cooperative Society in Butwal, was brought to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bhairahawa on Thursday, where his statement was recorded.

Meanwhile, the RSP continues to call for Lamichhane’s release, insisting that he should be investigated while remaining out of custody.
