KP Oli assumes power for the fourth time
CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has been appointed Prime Minister. President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Oli on Sunday under Article 76(2) of the Constitution. This marks Oli’s fourth term as Prime Minister. President Poudel had given a deadline of 5 pm on Sunday to form a new government under the same constitutional provision.
NEPSE rises by 52.97 points in a single day, trades exceed 7 billion after 5 months
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a significant surge on the first trading day of the week, with trades exceeding Rs 7 billion for the first time in nearly five months. Today, NEPSE rose by 52.97 points, marking a 2.40% increase, and reached 2257.59 points. The index peaked at 2290.95 points during the day but later corrected to close at 2257 points. This level is the highest NEPSE has reached in almost a year.
Newly appointed Prime Minister Oli visits former President Bhandari
Shortly after being appointed Prime Minister for the fourth time, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli visited former President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Chapali. President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Oli as Prime Minister on Sunday, and Oli immediately went to Chapali to discuss the current political situation and the new government’s direction with Bhandari. In the coalition with the Nepali Congress (NC), UML will hold the prime ministership and appoint eight ministers.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has been appointed as Prime Minister on Sunday. President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed the UML Chairman under Article 76(2) of the Constitution. UML and NC finalize power-sharing agreement, Swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister at 11 am Monday
The Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML are set to form a government through a power-sharing agreement, finalizing the division of ministries. According to the agreement reached by the top leaders of both parties, the Nepali Congress will oversee nine ministries while UML will manage eight. UML has agreed to take charge of the ministries of Finance, Physical Planning, Communication, Education, Industry, General Administration, and Land Reform.
Koshi Cabinet: Chief Minister Karki preparing to sack Maoist Center ministers to vacate seat for NC
Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has started preparations to dismiss the ministers representing the CPN-Maoist Center to vacate seats for Nepali Congress candidates in the cabinet. According to Karki’s Secretariat, the Chief Minister has already requested the Maoist Center to quit the government to facilitate the cabinet reshuffle. This move follows the formation of the NC-UML coalition at the federal level, which has also impacted provincial politics. Currently, the UML and Maoist Center are in the government in Koshi, with the CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajbadi Party providing support.

Malaysian national arrested in Thamel with around 6 kg of cocaine
A 47-year-old Malaysian woman has been arrested at a hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-29, with approximately 6 kilograms of cocaine. The woman was apprehended at Kathmandu City Hotel with 5.8 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth Rs 203.7 million. A team from the Kathmandu Police Range, acting on a tip-off, carried out the arrest and seized the prohibited drug.
