BHARATPUR: The identities of all three bodies found in the Narayani river on Saturday have been confirmed.
According to the police, the bodies belong to passengers of the two buses that plunged into the Trishuli river after being swept away by a landslide.
Bheshraj Rijal, spokesman for the District Police Office, stated that two bodies were found on an island in the Narayani river in Giandakot Municipality-7, and one was found in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-28.
These bodies were confirmed to be from the Simaltal incident.
One of the three bodies found on Saturday has been identified as 22-year-old Bikas Pariyar from Chitwan Madi Municipality-1. His brother, Vijay Pariyar, identified the body.
Bikas had reportedly boarded the bus from Birgunj to Kathmandu from Bharatpur.
The second body, found near Bikas Pariyar’s, has been identified as 19-year-old Ramit Kushar Majhi from Sarlahi Barhathwa Municipality-3.
The third body, found in Golaghat, has been identified as 28-year-old Rishi Pal Sah from Sitamani, Bihar, India.
The bodies have been handed over to their relatives.
It should be noted that on Friday, two buses, one traveling to Kathmandu from Birgunj and another to Gaur from Kathmandu, fell into the Trishuli river after a landslide at Simaltal Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29.
The buses were carrying 27 and 24 passengers, respectively.
The search for the missing buses and passengers continues today, with no sign of the bus wreckage so far.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav stated that a large number of security personnel have been mobilized for the search operation in Simaltal and along the Narayani river downstream.
