Govt positive about expanding BP Koirala Cancer Hospital capacity: Health Minister Yadav



CHITWAN: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Yadav, stated that the Bharatpur-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital is utilizing its resources, capacity, and technology to the fullest in providing treatment services.

During his inspection of the hospital today, Minister Yadav emphasized the need for the hospital to deliver superior services to patients from all over the country.

“Cancer patients from across the nation come here for treatment. I have not heard of any discrimination against patients, whether they are from the Chitwan district or other regions,” he said.

Minister Yadav mentioned that discussions have been held with the Prime Minister regarding increasing the hospital’s capacity to 1,000 beds and augmenting human resources.

He conveyed that the Prime Minister responded positively to these proposals.

Additionally, the Health Minister argued that the tax levied on tobacco products should be allocated to the Ministry of Health and the Cancer Hospital.

During the visit, Executive Director of the hospital, Dr. Shivaji Poudel, briefed the Health Minister on the hospital’s introduction, objectives, services, and the number of patients it serves.

After the inspection, Minister Yadav also met with the visitors of the patients.
