KATHMANDU: Former Provincial Minister Deepak Manange, who was found guilty in a murder case, has been transferred to Dillibazar Jail.

The Kathmandu District Court ordered his detention at the facility.

Manange, who was arrested in Sanbharyang, Kathmandu on Tuesday morning, was initially taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB). He is now being transferred to jail to serve his sentence.

The arrest follows the Supreme Court’s upholding of the five-year prison sentence originally handed down by the Patan High Court.

He has already served 2 years and 8 months of his sentence and will now serve the remaining time in jail.

In 2061 BS, Manange’s group was involved in an attack on another gangster, Chakre Milan.

The Patan Appellate Court sentenced him to five years in prison in 2069 BS for his involvement in the killing.

Following the verdict, Manange appealed to the Supreme Court and was sent to jail.

He fought the case from outside jail after the Supreme Court granted him bail.

During the pendency of his case, Manange served as a minister in Gandaki Province multiple times.
