DHANUSHA: Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has said global collaboration is essential to cope with common challenge of this hour- climate change.

During a meeting with a team leader of UK environment-friendly economic growth project and other officials at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Janakpurdham, CM Singh viewed it was positive to have foreign investment on Nepal’s green development.

Entire world is facing a huge crisis owing to climate change, he said, adding that it has sought global collaboration.

CM Singh also appreciated the UK aid for Nepal’s overall development. Lately, the projects were run based on the domestic needs, which is laudable, Singh added.

He further said international community should be serious on compensating Nepal for its negligible greenhouse gas emission.

The federal government has been advocating for it in the international forums, Singh reminded.

Madhesh Province is facing a shortage of drinking water in addition to floods and erosion of arable lands.

Recharge in Chure region is imperative, he stressed. The CM sought assistance from the UK government for the projects on agricultural development, flood management, and recharge of Chure region.

According to him, the province government was planning to forward green and climate-safe infrastructures so that sustainable development would be promoted.
