Dhawal Shumsher Rana to register ‘Jaya Nepal Party’ on August 13

KATHMANDU: Former Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Dhawal Shumsher Rana has announced that he will register the Jaya Nepal Party with the Election Commission on August 13.

Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Thursday, Rana said the new party would work towards restoring Nepal as a Hindu kingdom and would be officially registered under his leadership.

He said businessman and campaigner Durga Prasai would serve as the party’s “consensus leader”.

Rana said the party was not seeking the return of an executive monarchy but rather a constitutional monarchy that would serve as a guardian of the nation.

He argued that people from all castes, ethnic communities and religious backgrounds had historically accepted the monarchy, adding that the country had entered a period of crisis after the institution was abolished.

Rana also said the formation of the new party was aimed at advocating for the restoration of Nepal as a Hindu state.
