Around 1.3 million people leave Kathmandu Valley for Dashain

KATHMANDU: As many as 1.3 million people have departed from the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain in just one week, according to the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs.

This figure was reported as of today (Friday).

Bijay Swar, President of the Federation, noted that approximately 1.8 million people were expected to leave the valley for the festivities.

However, he mentioned that around 300,000 people have been unable to travel due to road obstruction caused by floods and landslides in various regions of the country.

“We had initially estimated that between 1.5 to 1.8 million people would leave the valley this year during Dashain,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the current number reflects the challenges posed by recent natural events,” he added.
