Mukul Dhakal accuses DP Aryal of embezzlement and misappropriation of party funds

KATHMANDU: Expelled General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Mukul Dhakal, has accused the party’s Vice Chairman, Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, of financial misconduct within the party.

During a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dhakal alleged that Aryal, who was responsible for managing the party’s finances, failed to maintain transparency.

Dhakal claimed that Aryal even pocketed donations meant for the party.

“DP Aryal was given the responsibility of managing the finances. When the party was established, I asked how we would fund it. Rabi Lamichhane told me, ‘Mukul, don’t worry about the money. Focus on the documents and political issues. DP Aryal will handle the finances.’ So, I never discussed money matters again,” Dhakal said, adding, “However, the necessary transparency was not maintained.”

Dhakal highlighted that despite promises of transparency on the first day of the party’s establishment at the National Assembly Hall, it was not adhered to.

“DP Aryal did not show the required generosity. I repeatedly urged him to clear the financial accounts, but he always claimed there were debts,” Dhakal stated, adding, “It went to the extent that he kept contributions from party members in his pocket instead of depositing them into the party fund.”
