Rabi Lamichhane needn’t face jail term even if GB Rai defaults on loan: Advocate Pandit

CPN- UML suspends Koshi Minister amid human trafficking allegations

The ruling party, CPN- UML, has suspended Lila Ballav Adhikari from all party positions following his resignation as Koshi Province’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Law amid human trafficking allegations.

On Saturday, UML’s Koshi Provincial Committee suspended Adhikari, who is also a member of the party’s National Convention Representatives Council, stripping him of all party responsibilities.

UML Koshi President Ghanshyam Khatiwada stated that Adhikari, a Provincial Assembly member elected from Morang-2 (B), would remain suspended from all levels of the party until the allegations are resolved. He also urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.

Rabi to be produced in court for extension of detention for the fourth time tomorrow

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, held in Kaski police custody since October 18, is being presented in Kaski District Court tomorrow for an extension of his detention.

He was arrested on charges of misappropriation of cooperative funds.

His remand period, extended for the third time, expires today, but due to Saturday’s public holiday, he will be presented in court on Sunday, according to his Secretariat member, Pramod Neupane.

President Paudel stresses collaboration between govt and political parties

President Ram Chandra Paudel has underlined a robust collaboration between government and political parties for the socioeconomic and cultural developments of the country.

President Paudel said it while addressing a function organized on the occasion of 110th birth anniversary of leader Ganesh Man Singh today.

Intensified development works and good governance could build public trust in government and political parties, he argued.

Minister Shahi leaves for Azerbaijan to attend COP29

Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has left here for Azerbaijan to attend the 29th edition of the Conference of Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The world event is being held in Baku from November 11-22. Secretary Dr Dipak Kumar Kharal and others have accompanied the delegation led by Minister Shahi. Climate change adaptation, loss and damage, climate finance, technological development and transfer and issues of least developed countries (LDC) will feature significantly in the COP.

The Ministry has prepared a position paper on climate change and impact in Nepal.

Three int’l flights at GBIA today

Three international airlines are conducting flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA), Bhairahawa today.

The GBIA saw a flight of Jazeera Airways today bringing 171 passengers, while the Fly Dubai and Nepal Airlines are conducting flights today itself.

Jazeera Airways will have three flights in a week-Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while Fly Dubai will fly daily to the airport, according to Pratap Babu Tiwari, General Manager of the GBIA.
