KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Scotland today in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
The match will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am.
So far, three matches have been completed in the ongoing tri-series featuring Nepal, the USA and Scotland. Scotland has won both of its matches in the series. It defeated Nepal by two runs in the opening match under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method and later edged past the USA by the same margin, also via the DLS method.
The third match of the series was played between Nepal and the USA last Saturday, where Nepal secured a convincing nine-wicket victory. Nepal will be aiming to keep its hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Cup Global Qualifier alive with a win over Scotland today.
Nepal currently sits seventh in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings. The team needs victories in all 10 of its remaining matches to stay in contention for the World Cup Global Qualifier, while a top-six finish is essential to retain ODI status. As a result, today’s match is considered crucial for Nepal.
Nepal has collected 20 points from 26 matches, registering nine wins, 15 losses and two no-results. Scotland, meanwhile, tops the standings with 38 points from 30 matches, having recorded 16 wins, eight losses and six no-results.
