Navigating Pashupatinath: Essential routes, parking guidance for visitors



KATHMANDU: As the Pashupatinath Temple premises anticipate a surge in crowds and traffic today, the Traffic Police have implemented diversions to streamline vehicular movement in the area.

Vehicles destined for Gaushala will be diverted towards Chabahil, Old Baneshwor, Gyaneshwor, Maitidevi, Ratopul, Setopul, Kalopul, Sifal, Kutubahal, Gaurighat, and Tilganga, as per directives from the Traffic Police.

Loaded vehicles are directed away from Tinkune, Jorpati Narayantar, Chuchhepati, Chabahi, Sinamangal, and Basundhara.

To manage the traffic effectively, the Traffic Police Office has deployed 513 personnel in the Pashupatinath Temple area. Each officer is assigned duties at various points, including directing traffic, managing parking, and overseeing diversions.

  • Chabalil
  • Old Baneshwor
  • Ganeshwor, Maitidevi, and Ratopul road section
  • Sifal ground and Jaya Bageshwori road section
  • Lampokhari Kutubahal Mitrapak road section
  • Gaurighat Umakunda Mitrapark road
  • Tilganga Gaushala road section

Parking Facilities Available:

  • Free parking near Transport Office, Gueshwori, for visitors from Boudha, Sankhu, and Sundarijal areas
  • Sifal ground for devotees
  • Office of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) for government officials and security personnel
  • Bandarkhal for government officials and security personnel
  • Tilganga corridor and open space for pilgrims, devotees, and tourist vehicles
  • Bankali for organizations, fire brigades, ambulances, drinking water, and security personnel

These measures aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and convenient parking arrangements for visitors during their pilgrimage to Pashupatinath Temple.
