Nepal secures thrilling seven runs victory over Canada in Bilateral ODI Series opener



KATHMANDU: In a gripping encounter, Nepal emerged triumphant against Canada in the inaugural match of the Nepal-Canada Bilateral ODI Series.

Chasing a target of 225 runs set by Nepal, the Canadian innings came to an end as Nepal’s bowlers delivered a stellar performance, dismissing them in 47.4 overs.

Nepal’s batting effort was led by Kushal Bhurtel, who provided a solid foundation with his impressive knock of 62 runs, while Bhim Sarki contributed a valuable 17 runs to the team’s total.

Additionally, Kushal Malla’s 20 runs, along with Aasif Sheikh and captain Rohit Poudel’s eight runs each, bolstered Nepal’s innings.

On the bowling front, Captain Rohit Poudel took four wickets while Lalit Rajbanshi took two wickets.

Also, Sompal Kami, Rijan Dhakal, Pawan Saraf and Kushal Malla took one wicket each for the team.

In the first innings, Uday Bhagwan emerged as a standout performer for Canada, clinching three crucial wickets. Saad Bin Zafar and IS Shoi also made significant contributions, securing two wickets each.

With this exhilarating victory, Nepal sets a promising tone for the remainder of the series, showcasing their determination and prowess on the cricketing stage.
